Women's Soccer Advances to SoCon Championship Game with 5-1 Win over No. 3 ETSU

Box Score

MACON, Ga. – No. 2 seed UNC Greensboro women's soccer (14-4-1) advanced to the Southern Conference Championship Game with a 5-1 win over No. 3 ETSU (8-12-0) Friday night at Betts Stadium. The Spartans will face No. 5 Furman Sunday at 2 p.m. on ESPN+ after the Paladins defeated No. 1 Samford 2-0 earlier in the day.

“The team worked very hard all night and they wanted to get back to the championship game so much,” said UNCG head coach Michael Coll. “We have dominated other games like this match and not pulled away from our opponent because of near misses or good saves from their goalkeeper, but tonight everything clicked, and our finishing was pretty much perfect."

Nicole Souply scored the first goal and her eighth of the year in the 19th minute. Souply headed in the ball from the left side of the box off a corner kick from Ashton Duty.

The game-winning goal came right before the end of the first half in the 44th minute. Caroline Fiorella headed ETSU's goalkeeper's kick into the box, and Grace Regal sprinted down to kick it past the keeper right before she got to it for her third goal of the season.

Jordin Mosley recorded her first collegiate goal in the 51st minute. Following a corner kick, Kaley Tucker touched it over to Mosley who buried a shot into the top left corner of the net.

Cienna Rideout got her first goal in the 67th minute. After stealing the ball away from a Bucs' defender, she dribbled around the midfield and then ripped a shot over a leaping goalkeeper.

Rideout notched the final goal and her SoCon-high 14th of the season in the 78th minute. She drew a penalty kick after moving a move past a Bucs' defender and getting tripped up in the box. She then converted on the penalty kick with a shot to the bottom right side underneath the goalkeeper's arms.

ETSU scored its lone goal in the 68th minute.

UNCG had the edge in almost every category: shots (18-11), shots on goal (10-5) and corner kicks (6-3).

UNCG goalkeeper Aiyanah Tyler-Cooper (14-4-1) made four saves.

Rideout finished with a game-high six shots with three on goal, and Tucker place two of her four shots on goal.
