WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – UNC Greensboro returned to the familiar confines of JDL Fast Track Saturday for the Wake Forest Invitational, and several runners on the men’s and women’s sides won their respective heats and set personal records.
“Overall as a team on both sides, we’re happy with the progress we’ve made from last week to this week,” said UNCG head coach Chad Pearson. “With a young squad on both sides we’re excited to continue getting to work these next few weeks and continue to improve our fitness.”
Colin Alexander took home the top podium spot in the one-mile and his first collegiate win. Also, on the men’s side Weston Clayton (800-meter) and Ny Juan Williams (200-meter) won their heats in their respective events. Clayton set a collegiate personal-best in the event, and Daniel Rust accomplished the same feat in the 400-meter. In the 3,000-meter Cameron Belk finished fifth while Brandon Hernandez claimed seventh place in the mile.
On the women’s side, Chandler McCaslin was the top finisher for the Spartans placing fifth overall in the mile. Ariana Garcia came in seventh which was a new personal record for her. Kathryn Anderson notched a personal-best in the 3,000-meter. Also for the women, Jasmine Cullins (800-meters) and Ashlyn Dalton (400-meters) won their heats.
The Spartans will return to JDL Fast Track next Sunday for the JDL College Dual Meet Madness.
