Schnell named women’s SoCon Runner of the Week
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG's Ashley Schnell has been honored as the women's Southern Conference Runner of the Week for her performance during the weekend of Oct. 1-2, the league office announced today.
The junior from Lincoln, Neb., set a UNCG school record with her time of 17:37 at the Greater Louisville Classic. Her time was about 25 seconds faster than the previous record.
Schnell finished 18th in a very competitive field that included many of the top teams in the region. Schnell helped the Spartans to a 14th place finish as a team. Schnell is a music performance major with a 4.0 GPA.
The Spartans now have a week off before they run at the Royal Cross Country Challenge in Charlotte, N.C., Oct. 15.
