UNCG returns home this weekend, beginning a three-match homestand against SoCon North Division rival Samford. Both the match against the Bulldogs and the following night's contest against Chattanooga are designated as the Spartans' annual Breast Cancer Awareness matches.
Pink merchandise will be sold both nights and will feature pink t-shirts, koozies and other UNCG gear. Proceeds will benefit the local Cone Health Mammography Scholarship.
Betlach Named SoCon Volleyball Freshman Of The Week
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Freshman hitter-blocker Lauren Betlach has been named the Southern Conference Freshman of the Week according to an announcement Monday afternoon by the league. It is the first career weekly honor for the Phoenix, Ariz. native.
Betlach averaged 3.43 kills and 2.57 digs per set in two matches over the weekend. She tallied her second double-double of the season at Western Carolina with a team-high 11 kills and a career-high 16 digs before posting 13 kills in the 3-1 road victory at Appalachian State as one of four Spartans in double figures.
