Nicholas Heads To High Performance National Championships
GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG volleyball head coach Patrick Nicholas was selected to lead Carolina Region High Performance Youth Team earlier this year as head coach. Nicholas and his Carolina Region team practiced last week and are heading to the United State High Performance National Championships in Des Moines, Iowa from July 23-27.
"I am really excited about this opportunity to coach this High Performance Youth Team from the Carolina Region," Nicholas said. "I am honored with the selection and excited for this team heading into the national championships. We had three training days here at UNCG and are ready to head to the national championships in Des Moines. This is a great experience for both the players and coaches that come together from the state of North Carolina."
The Carolina Region is one of 40 regional volleyball associations under the umbrella of USA Volleyball, the national governing body for the sport. The High Performance Program touts itself as "the first step in the USA Volleyball athlete pipeline."
Nicholas also served as the head coach of the Carolina Region High Performance Select Team in 2011, taking that team to the national championships in Tucson, Ariz. He previously owned and operated the High Performance Training Volleyball School in Austin, Texas, starting in 1996.
