UNCG signee invited to train with Puerto Rican National Team
GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG volleyball signee Katherine Santiago was recently invited to train with the Puerto Rican Women's National Team.
Nearly two weeks ago, Santiago was invited to train for a few days with the team. At the conclusion of that week, she impressed the players and coaches so much that she was invited back to train with the team some more.
"That's really exciting for her to be invited to train with the national team as a high school senior," said UNCG coach Patrick Nicholas. "It's a great opportunity for her and I'm happy that she is coming here. I couldn't be more excited for her and proud of her."
The Puerto Rican National Team is currently training in the hopes of qualifying for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, as well as the Pan-Am Games and the World Championships.
