Orewiler named SoCon Freshman of the Week
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG true freshman libero Kellie Orewiler was named the Southern Conference Freshman of the Week for Aug. 20, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
Orewiler, a Mansfield, Ohio native, earned Libero of the Tournament honors this past weekend for her play at the Spartan Spiketacular. She amassed a team-high 40 digs over the week for an average of 3.33 digs per set.
She was second on the team with seven service aces for a team-leading 0.58 aces per set average. Orewiler helped lead the Spartans to a 4-0 record with wins over North Carolina A&T, Morgan State, Norfolk State and Gardner-Webb.
The Spartans return to action on Friday as they kick off homecoming weekend and open Southern Conference play by hosting Samford for a 5 p.m. contest in Fleming Gymnasium.
