Finney named SoCon Defensive Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG's Kayren Finney has been named the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week for Aug. 30, the league office announced on Monday.

Kayren Finney, a senior middle blocker from Danville, Va., took league honors with her defensive effort in the Spartan Classic in Norfolk, Va.  Her 1.56 blocks per set was a team high and helped UNCG to earn the Spartan Classic title.

She posted a team-high 25 blocks in the wins over Navy, Kent State, Norfolk State and Providence., five of which were solo blocks.

The Spartans and Finney return to action on Monday night as they host Wingate for an exhibition at 6:45 p.m. in Fleming Gymnasium.
