Hanners named SoCon Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - UNC Greensboro senior Catherine Hanners has been named the SoCon Volleyball Player of the Week for September 8, as announced by the conference office today.

The senior from Richmond, Va., is making the transition from libero to outside hitter this season. She recorded 60 kills over four matches last week for a 4.29 kills per game average. UNC Greensboro went 3-1 in those matches, including a 2-1 showing at the Gamecock Invitational in Columbia, S.C.

Hanners posted a .326 hitting percentage in the Spartans' four games and added nine service aces. She was named to the Gamecock Invitational All-Tournament Team for her efforts.

For the season, Hanners has 81 kills and averages 3.12 kills per game. She also has 81 digs this year for a 3.12 digs per game average and has added 14 aces.

UNCG returns to action against head coach Patrick Nicholas' former team, Marshall, at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in Fleming Gymnasium.
