Former Spartan Theresa Hart signs with team in Croatia
GREENSBORO, NC – Former UNC Greensboro volleyball player and student-assistant coach Theresa Hart has taken her playing career overseas. Hart has signed on to play with ?enski Odbojkaški Klub "Matija Mesić" in Slavonski Brod, Croatia.
As a member of ?OK "MM", Hart will face teams located along the coast of Croatia. ?OK "MM" competes in the 1st Division, which is the highest division.
A transfer from the University of San Francisco, Hart played one year for the Spartans. In 2006, she set the then-single-season record for kills with 534. Hart also averaged 4.20 kills per game, which is both the single-season and career record at UNCG. She holds the record for most kills in a four-game match, tallying 26 versus Liberty on Oct. 26, 2006. She was part of the team that made program history in the Southern Conference Tournament as the Spartans won their first SoCon Tournament match and eventually advanced to their first championship match.
Hart became the first player in UNCG history to earn All-Southern Conference first team honors. Also in 2006, Hart and current UNCG senior Kaitlyn Nortz were the first Spartans to received SoCon All-Tournament nods. Last season, Hart helped coach the Spartans that went 20-15 on overall and 11-7 in conference play and reach the SoCon Championship Match for the second-straight year.
UNCG opens the 2008 campaign this weekend at the Radisson Suites Buena Park Volleyball Classic at Cal State Fullerton. The Spartans face Pepperdine on Friday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. ET. They conclude the tournament on Saturday, Aug. 30 with matches against Cal State Fullerton at 4 p.m. ET and Delaware at 7 pm. ET.
