Schnell named SoCon Track Athlete of the Month
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG senior Ashley Schnell was named the Southern Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Month, the league office announced on Friday.
Schnell began her indoor season at the Dick Taylor Invitational on Jan. 14 and came away with the win in the 800 meter race. Her time of 2:11.52 broke her own school record she set last season and is the top time in the SoCon this season in the 800.
For her efforts at the Dick Taylor Invitational, Schnell was named the SoCon Track Athlete of the Week on Jan. 19.
On Jan. 20, Schnell ran at the Hokie Invitational and won the women's mile race. She broke her own school record by 12 seconds after posting a time of 4:48.92.
Schnell will compete this weekend at the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind.
