Spartans wrap up day one at Dick Taylor Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Taylor Day set a new personal-best in the 3,000 meters, while Chelsea Willette did the same in the women's 3,000 to lead UNCG on day one of the Dick Taylor Invitational at the Eddie Smith Field House.

Day finished in eighth place in the 3,000 meter race with a 9:02.11, which shaved nine seconds off of his previous personal-best. Freshman Dylan Belles was right behind Day as he came in 10th place in a time of 9:03.29.

In the 600 meters, Taylor Hurst led the Spartans with an 11th place finish in a time of 1:25.25 and teammate John Teeter ran a 1:27.47 to come in 18th place.

On the women's side, Willette was the lone member of the UNCG squad to compete in the 3,000 meters and her time of 11:28.23 set a new personal-best by seven seconds.

Shannon Hall turned in a 14th place finish in the 600 meters with a 1:43.58, while teammate Jade Farlow ran a 1:47.64.

The Spartans will return on Saturday for the final day of the meet beginning at 12 p.m.
