CLEMSON, S.C. – Shaina Sumney and Kerry Hartman turned in a 3-4 finish in the women's mile and three Spartans were named All-Freshman on the final day of the 2011 Southern Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Sunday.

Sumney turned in a personal-best time of 5:06.45 in the mile to finish in third place, while Hartman was right on her heels in a time of 5:06.59 to come in fourth place.

Also in the mile, Kelly Montague finished with a time of 5:28.72 that earned her Southern Conference All-Freshman honors in the event.

On the men's side, Joey Thompson was the lone Spartan to score for the team as he finished in eighth place in the 5,000 meters after running a 14:53.75. Paul Katam finished in ninth place in the event to earn All-Freshman honors. Kenny Hinman earned All-Freshman honors for the second straight day as he ran a 15:53.86 in the 5,000 meters.

The Spartans will now prepare for the outdoor season as they kick off that season on March 11 at the UNCW Seahawk Invitational.
