Spartans wrap up Carolina Fast Times on Saturday
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Three runners on the women's team set new personal-best times to lead UNC Greensboro at the Carolina Fast Times on Saturday evening.
Michelle Chewens set a new personal-best in the 800 meters by almost a second with a time of 2:20.77. Her time set a new time as the fourth-fastest in that event in school history.
Shaina and Chelsea Sumney also set personal-best times in the 1500 meters. Shaina's time of 4:47.37 was almost two seconds ahead of her previous personal-best and set the fourth-best time in school history. Chelsea's time of 4:54.63 was over seven seconds better than her personal-best.
On the men's side, TJ Wyatt set a new personal-best in the 800 meters for the second-straight week. His time of 1:52.37 was good enough for sixth place on the day. The time also broke his previous mark by .45 seconds to set the new second-best time in school history.
Andy Clyne also had a nice day as he nearly broke his personal-best in the 1,500 meters as he finished just .37 off his mark with a time of 3:57.62.
The Spartans will return to the track on April 24 as UNCG begins the 2010 Southern Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Boone, N.C.
