Thompson breaks school record to lead UNCG at UNC Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, NC – Freshman Joey Thompson continued to shatter school records this season as he broke the school record in the 1,500 meters by over two seconds to lead UNC Greensboro on Saturday afternoon at the UNC Invitational.

Thompson’s time of 3:54.75 was almost two and a half seconds better than the previous school record in the event.

TJ Wyatt was also a top perform on the men’s side as his time of 1:54.33 in the 800 meters was the fourth-best time in school history

On the women’s side, Sherrika Jordan ran the 3,000 meters in 10:29.69. Her time was the third-best in school history.

Danielle Merriman also had an impressive performance, as her time in the 400 meters was the fourth-best in school history.

UNCG will return to action next weekend as the Spartans compete at the Davidson Invitational on Saturday, April 18.
