LYNCHBURG, VA – The UNC Greensboro track team recorded 12 top 10 finishes, highlighted by a fourth place finish from Andrew Clyne in the 1000m run, to conclude action at the Liberty Open on Saturday.
The Spartan men recorded six top 10 finishes on the day. Sophomore Andrew Clyne led the way with a fourth place finish in the 1000m run with a time of 2:38.31 finishing less than four seconds behind winner Desmond Wigann from Winston-Salem State. Lincoln Bennett and Brian Carrington also had as good finish in the 1000m run, as they finished eighth and ninth respectively.
UNCG also had a great showing in the 4 x 800m relay. The ‘C’ team finished in second place with a time of 8:12.82. The ‘B’ and ‘A’ teams also had great finishes by finishing fourth and fifth.
On the women’s side, sophomore Tiffany Garber freshman Kerry Hartman recorded the top finishes of the day. Garber took sixth place in the mile run with a time of 5:21.59, while Hartman finished in sixth place in the 1000m with a time of 3:09.37. Emily Vasquez also had a good finish in the mile run after finishing in tenth place after running a time of 5:33.77.
The 4 x 800m relay team also found success on the women’s side. The ‘C’ squad took second place with a time of 10:19.14 and the ‘A’ team finished just behind them in third with a time of 10:20.82. The UNCG ‘B’ team finished in fourth with a time of 10:54.34.
The Spartans are back in action next weekend when they head to Johnson City, TN for the Niswonger Invitational hosted by East Tennessee State.
