CHAPEL HILL, NC – The UNC Greensboro women’s 4 x 400 relay set a new school record with a time of 4:11.89 while UNCG recorded six Top-10 finishes and set four new personal-bests at the Tony Waldrop Invitational on April 12.
The women’s relay took a seventh place finish and broke the previous school record set in 1999 by over 11 seconds. The men’s relay also had a good afternoon and took 14th place with a time of 3:28.42, a little over three seconds off the school record of 3:25.61.
The Spartans were led by a fifth -place finish from Josh Wyatt in the 3000 meter run. The Hope Mills, NC native posted an 8:59.49 and shaved a little over four second off his previous personal best.
On the women’s side Mary Ann Rutz also posted a personal-best in the 3000 meter run. She finished with a time of 11:02.68 while teammates Sherrika Jordan and Michelle Chewens posted new personal record in the 1500 meter run with times of 2:22.65 and 2:27.85, respectively.
The Spartans will head to the Davidson Invitational on April 19 as a final tune-up for the Southern Conference Championships set for April 26-27 in Cullowhee, NC.
