Jess Weber sets school record in 800 meters to close outdoor season

DURHAM, NC – In her final collegiate race Jess Weber broke UNCG’s school record in the 800 meters to lead the UNC Greensboro track and field teams at the Duke Twilight on Sunday.

Weber, who broke her own record, by over one second, finished in ninth place with a time of 2:17.81 which is also a new personal record for the Lofton, VA native. Weber also ran the 1500 meters and took 14th place with a time of 4:59.44. 

On the men’s side Taylor Hurst led the way in the 800 meter run with a fourth place finish after crossing the finish line with a time of 1:56.44. Andrew Clyne led a contingent of Spartans in the 1500 meter with a 12th place finish. Clyne posted a 3:57.25 which qualified the freshman for Junior Nationals. The Washingtonville, NY native joins teammate AJ Savoia who qualified in the 3000 meter steeplechase earlier this season.

Xavier Rutz took 16th place in the 1500 meter run with a personal best time of 3:59.73 while Taylor Hurst took 22nd place with a time of 4:15.43.
