UNCG women set four personal records at Duke Invitational

DURHAM, NC – The UNC Greensboro track and field team had four women post personal records in first day action at the Duke Invitational on Friday.

The UNCG women had a great afternoon and were led by four personal records in the 1500 meter run. Senior Jess Weber led the way and took a fourth place finish with a time of 4:49.44. Sherrika Jordan was the next UNCG finisher taking sixth place with a time of 4:50.21, three seconds faster than her previous personal best.  Tiffany Garber, Michelle Chewens and Courtney Fawcett also posted new personal bests in the 1500 meter run.

Xavier Rutz led the way on the men’s side with an eighth-place finish in the 5000 meter run. The Hope Mills, NC native posted a 15:06.58 for UNCG’s fourth Top-10 finish on the afternoon.  Josh Wyatt also ran the 5000 meters taking 23rd place with a time of 15:37.80.

Lincoln Bennett and Andrew Clyne were UNCG’s other male runners on the afternoon. Bennett took 50th place in the 1500 meter developmental run with a time of 4:16.51 while Clyne took 29th place in the 1500 meter seeded run with a time of 3:59.31

The Spartans will continue action at the Duke Invitational on Saturday and will have some runners participating at the Murray Neely Invite hosted by North Carolina A&T.
