UNCG records nine Top 10 finishes to conclude Liberty On Track Open

LYNCHBURG, VA – The UNC Greensboro track team recorded eight top 10 finishes, highlighted by a second place finish from Andrew Clyne in the 1000m run, to conclude action at the Liberty On Track Open on Saturday.

The Spartan men recorded seven top 10 finishes on the day. Freshman Andrew Clyne led the way with a second place finish in the 1000m run with a time of 2:34.12 finishing five second behind winner Matt Cash from Mary Washington.

UNCG also had a good showing in the 800m. Terry Wyatt and Taylor Hurst finished third and fourth with times of 1:59.23 and 1:59.28, respectfully. Freshman Anthony Savoia, continued his excellent freshman campaign and finished in ninth place in the mile with a time of 4:35.60 while Ramon Jobson-Brown finished ninth in the long jump with a jump of 6.36m

On the women’s side, freshman led the way with Michelle Chewens and Tiffany Garber recording the top finishes of the day. Chewens took fourth place in the 1000m run with a time of 3:09.35 while Garber finished in 11th place in the mile with a time of 5:29.98.

UNCG also had several runners hit new personal records. Ryan Rodd took sixth place in the 3000m with a time of 8:47.28, shaving nearly two seconds off his previous personal best.  Carly Magin, who took 18th place in the 3000m, also set a new personal record of 11:31.44, breaking her old mark by over 13 seconds.

The Spartans are back in action next weekend when they head to Chapel Hill, NC for the Carolina Invitational hosted by North Carolina.
