Spartans prep for SoCon meet with outstanding day at Carolina Fast Times
CHAPEL HILL, NC – Ryan Rodd and Xavier Rutz cracked the two-minute mark in the 800 meters to highlight UNC Greensboro’s performances at the Carolina Fast Times on Saturday.
Rodd, a sophomore from West Hartford, CT, recorded a time of 1:58.90 for a 25th-place finish and a career best. Rutz, a junior from Cary, NC, was right behind him in 28th at 1:59.33.
Keith Gruchacz and Justin Ruppe also had personal records in the 1500 meters. Gruchacz, a senior from Bridgewater, NJ, crossed with a time of 4:12.65, while Ruppe, a freshman from Rutherfordton, NC, finished in 4:15.42.
On the women’s side, Tessa Dispenette and Sherrika Jordan ran personal records in the 1500 meters. Dispennette, a sophomore from Pittsboro, NC, crossed the line in 5:06.34, nearly 10 seconds better than her previous best, to finish in 21st place. Jordan, a freshman from Charlotte, NC, crossed the line immediately after, logging a time of 5:08.11.
UNCG will compete next weekend at the Southern Conference Championships in Boone, NC.
