Jess Weber named to ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team
GREENSBORO, NC – UNC Greensboro’s Jess Weber has been selected to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Track & Field/Cross Country All-District III first team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for her outstanding athletic and academic achievements.
Weber, who is now eligible for consideration for the Academic All-America teams, is an education and psychology double major with a 3.95 grade point average. She was a four-year member of the SoCon Academic Honor Roll and was a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection in 2005-06. Weber just completed her senior season on the UNCG track & field and cross country teams.
The Lofton, VA native, holds UNCG’s indoor record in the mile (5:13.71) and outdoor records in the 800 (2:18.93) and 1500 meters (4:44.97). Her mark in the 800 meters broke a record that stood for nearly three years.
Weber was also UNCG’s top finisher in four of UNCG’s five cross country meets last fall and finished in ninth place at the SoCon outdoor championships in the 1500 meters. She was also a member of the UNCG distance medley relay that set a school record.
Academic All-America teams will be announced later this month.
