Runner Jess Weber named Academic All-Region

GREENSBORO, NC – UNC Greensboro junior Jess Weber has been selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District women's track & field/cross country team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The Lorton, VA native was named to the District III second team on the strength of her efforts in both the classroom and on the athletic field. Weber owns a 3.96 grade point average as an elementary education major at UNCG.

During the outdoor track season, she set a school record in the 800 and 1500 meter events. Her time of 2:18.93 at the Duke Invitational broke the standard in the 800 that stood for nearly three years.

Weber then clipped her own mark in the 1500 at the Southern Conference Championships with a time of 4:44.97 to place seventh in the event.

In the indoor season, she set a UNCG mark in the mile with a time of 5:13.71 to finish sixth at the SoCon Championships.

Back in the fall during the cross country season, Weber ran her fastest time of the year at the SoCon Championship. Her time of 19:03.42 paced all Spartan runners with an 18th place finish.
