Women's Tennis Adds Two in Early Signing Period

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG women's tennis signed local player Masey DeMoss (Mayodan, N.C./McMichael) and Yasmin Franco (Largo, Fla./Indian Rocks Christian) to national letters-of-intent, announced by head coach Jeff Trivette Wednesday.

"We are very excited about Masey and Yasmin joining us next year," said Trivette.  "Masey is one of the best kids to come out of North Carolina in this recruiting class. She just won the NC 3A high school individual tennis title. Yasmin is one of the top tennis players in the state of Florida. She brings a wealth of experience from competing in one of the best tennis sections in the country. They both have tons of potential and we are looking forward to watching them grow and develop as a part of the Spartan tennis program. We are very lucky to have them joining our UNCG family."

DeMoss won the NCHSAA state 3-A women's tennis tournament after going 4-0 including a straight sets win in the title match against Sarah Jiang of Concord Cox Mill, 6-2, 6-2. DeMoss was a runner-up in the state tournament as a sophomore in 2010. She is a three-star recruit according to tennisrecruiting.net and is ranked No. 14 in the state of North Carolina. DeMoss had a 4-2 record against other three-star recruits and finished ranked in the top-100 in the Southeast.

Franco is a four-star recruit according to tennisrecruiting.net and is ranked No. 18 in the state of Florida. Franco played more matches in tournaments after only playing one year of high school tennis her freshman year. She has a 34-34 record including a 27-8 mark against three-star and four-star recruits. Franco is ranked No. 33 in the Southeast and has continued to rise nationally at No. 112.
