Women's Tennis Finishes Strong Fall Campaign at Kitty Harrison Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Senior Niltooli Wilkins (Burnsville, Minn. / Homeschooled), won in the final round of consolation singles 6-1, 7-5 against Tereza Birchacova from Minnesota, Sunday, Nov. 11, at the Kitty Harrison Invitational. 

"We have had a very good fall," said head coach Jeff Trivette. "We have seen a lot of improvement from the first week of practice. I hope that we will continue to grow in the spring as we try to make a run for the SoCon title."

Seniors Alex Whitehead (Victoria, Australia / Star of the Sea College) and Annette Rios (Santa Ana, El Salvador / Liceo Latinoamericano) went head to head in their singles consolation final round. Rios pulled out a 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (8-6) win against Whitehead.

Sophomore Stephanie Falcon (Marietta, Ga. / Walton) lost in a tough 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (11-9) match against Virginia Tech's Raluca Mita, while freshman Soumeya Anane (Coventry, Great Britain / Tile Hill Wood School) picked up a 6-3, 6-4 win against Tea Ivanovic from Virginia Tech.

Freshman Jamie Grinberg (Chapel Hill, N.C. / East Chapel Hill) defeated Emilie Renault from Minnesota, 6-2, 6-0. 

The Spartans will return to play January 23, 2013, when they face North Carolina to begin the spring season.
