Women's Tennis On the Road at Wake Forest Invitational
Wake Forest Invitational Draws
GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG women's tennis program takes a short trip to compete in the Wake Forest Invitational beginning Friday, Oct. 5 through Sunday, Oct. 7.
"We've been working a lot on being consistent," said senior Alex Whitehead (Victoria, Australia / Star of the Sea College). "We've been playing some good schools in the previous tournaments so we're working on aggression and being able to play at a higher level."
Along with the Spartans, West Virginia University, College of Charleston, Stetson, ETSU, Davidson, Richmond, Appalachian State, Navy, Campbell, Winthrop, Louisville, Radford, Elon and host, Wake Forest will all participate in the tournament this weekend.
Representing the Blue and Gold will be Sourmeya Anane (Coventry, Great Britain/Tile Hill Wood School), Alisha Burton (Charlotte, N.C. / Zebulon B. Vance), Amy Ellis (Cheshire, Great Britain/Newcastle Under Lyme School), Kayla Gammie (Port St. Lucie, Fla./Broward Virtual School), Jamie Grinberg (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill), Annette Rios (Santa Ana, El Salvador/Liceo Latinoamericano), Whitehead, Niltooli Wilkins (Burnsville, Minn./Homeschooled) and Dilara Yurtkuran (Istanbul, Turkey/Gunes Koleji).
UNCG was last in action at the UVA Fall Invitational and the Elon Fall Invitational Sept. 14-16. The team ended the two tournaments 15-12 in singles and 5-5 in doubles.
The tournament will begin in Winston-Salem, Friday, Oct. 5, at 9 a.m.
