Niltooli Wilkins Wins ITA Event At Wichita State

WICHITA, Kan. – UNCG women's tennis rising redshirt senior Niltooli Wilkins (Burnsville, Minn./Homeschooled) continued her strong 2012 as she claimed the title at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Summer Circuit Event hosted by Wichita State University this past weekend.
Wilkins, the second seed in the 16-player draw, did not drop a set and only dropped 12 games total on her way to the title, winning four matches at the Coleman Tennis Complex. She opened the weekend with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Madeline Buxton before posting a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Maddie Schulte from UMKC.
Wilkins advanced to the tournament finals with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Nadege Jorda. She claimed the tournament championship by knocking off top-seeded Whitney Wofford of Oklahoma 6-4, 6-2. Additionally, she teamed with Buxton in the doubles draw to advance to the finals before falling to the team of Wofford and Jane Pinkston, 8-5.
Wilkins, who was named the SoCon Player of the Year, went 30-6 in singles on the season, setting a school record for single-season wins. She was an astounding 20-1 in dual play, finishing the season on a 20-match winning streak after dropping her first match of the spring campaign. She finished the year ranked 20th in the final ITA regional rankings.
