Wilkins wins opening singles match at ITA Regional

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Niltooli Wilkins advanced to Saturday's second round of singles play at the ITA Carolinas Regional with a straight-set win on Friday.

Wilkins ran her mark to 9-2 on the year when she downed NC State's Joelle Kissell, 6-2 and 7-6, in first round singles action. Wilkins will face top-seeded Josipa Bek from Clemson in a second round match Saturday morning. Bek won the ITA regional title in 2008 as a freshman and began this season ranked No. 13 in the nation in the ITA preseason rankings.

Wilkins' doubles run with MIkayla Rogers came to an end in the round of 16 when the duo suffered a tough loss to Wake Forest's Ryann Cutillo and Kayla Duncan, 9-7.
