UNCG claims two runner-up finishes as USAFA Fall Invitational comes to close
COLORADO SPRING, Colo. – Niltooli Wilkins claimed a runner-up finish in singles and Alex Whitehead and Stephanie Macfarlane finished second in a doubles flight, as well, as UNCG closed out play at the USAFA Fall Invitational on Sunday afternoon.
Wilkins dropped a three-setter to Wyoming's Veronica Popovici, 6-4, 5-7, 6-2, in the Flight 1 singles match. It marked the second straight tournament she reached the finals after having won the overall title at the Davidson Fall Invitational to start the season.
Whitehead and Macfarlane lost, 8-5, to Oregon's duo of Pavlina Smatova and Patricia Skowronski in the Flight 1 doubles final.
Annette Rios and Dilara Yurtkuran won the consolation final in Flight 3.
UNCG returns to action October 15 when it hosts the Spartan Doubles Challenge.
