Spartans open the fall slate at Davidson tourney
DAVIDSON, N.C. – UNCG's women's tennis squad opened the 2010-11 season at the Davidson Fall Invitational by winning five out of seven singles matches against Davidson and splitting three doubles matches between Elon and Gardner-Webb.
Elon swept all three doubles matches in a very close fashion, but UNCG countered with a doubles sweep of Gardner-Webb. UNCG then won four out of seven singles matches from Davidson to close out the first day of the tournament. UNCG's Niltooli Wilkins, Stephanie Macfarlane, Annette Rios, Dilara Yurtkuran and Devon Sutherland each picked up a singles and a doubles win in Friday action.
Play continues at the fall tourney on Saturday morning.
