CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - UNC Greensboro's Alex Whitehead continued her impressive debut weekend, earning a spot in a singles final and teaming with Stephanie Macfarlane to earn a spot in a doubles final on the second day of action at the UVa Fall Invitational.
Whitehead, a freshman from Victoria, Australia, topped top-seeded Anik Cepeda of William & Mary in straight sets, 6-4 and 6-3, to earn a spot the Flight "C" singles final. That was sandwiched around a pair of doubles wins with Macfarlane to earn a spot in Sunday's Flight "C" doubles final.
Whitehead will face Neela Vaez of Virginia in the singles final at 12:15 p.m. In doubles action, Whitehead and Macfarlane will face Marlen Mesgarzadeh and Carmen Pop at 9 a.m.
