GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro won five of six singles matches in easy straight-set fashion on its way to a 6-1 win Wednesday afternoon over Cal State Bakersfield at Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center.
Alejandra Guerra won her 20th match of the season, raising her mark to 20-7. The junior from Tampico, Mexico has won eight straight matches after downing Nefeli Diamanti, 6-0 and 6-1, on Wednesday. Ranked No. 72 in the nation, she is 8-2 in the spring season.
Freshman Lucy Dougherty also ran her mark to 13-8 on the year with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout of Sara Mijwel, her eighth win in her last nine outings. Also logging wins in singles play were Arielle VonStrolley, Valerie Behr and Britney Cloer.
UNCG (7-4) returns to action on Friday when the Spartans visit Charlotte.
