RICHMOND, Va. – Alejandra Guerra won her seventh straight match, but that was UNCG's only victory of the day as it dropped a 6-1 decision in women's tennis action at Virginia Commonwealth on Sunday afternoon.
Guerra, ranked No. 72 in the ITA singles rankings, raised her mark to 19-7 on the season with a three-set win over Ana Bara. The senior from Tampico, Mexico rallied from down a set to defeat Bara, 4-6, 6-2, 1-0, including 10-3 in the third-set tiebreaker.
UNCG's Lucy Dougherty saw her winning streak get snapped at seven straight, falling to Olena Leonchuk in straight sets.
The Spartans (6-4) return home to face Cal State Bakersfield Wednesday at 3 pm.
