Upsets fall short, Spartans eliminated at ITA Southeast Regional

CHAPEL HILL, NC – Two UNC Greensboro singles players and two doubles tandems fell short in upset bids Friday at the ITA Southeast Women’s Tennis Regional.

Valerie Behr lost to fifth-seeded Elizabeth Plotkin of Duke, 6-0 and 6-0, while Erica Zabkar fell to ninth-seeded Laura Giola of Furman, 6-1 and 6-0, in singles action.

Giola and Lauren Osborne, seeded ninth in doubles, topped Behr and Jess Eblen in a pro-set, 8-0. Alejandra Guerra and Arielle VonStrolley were also eliminated, dropping an 8-2 decision to Sophie Grabinski and Sanaz Marand of North Carolina.
