Guerra wins 12th straight, but UNCG falls to Davidson
DAVIDSON, NC – Alejandra Guerra won her 12th straight match in the most dominating way possible, but UNC Greensboro dropped a 6-1 decision to Davidson in Southern Conference women’s tennis action Thursday afternoon.
Guerra, a junior from Tampico, Mexico, who raised her record to 13-2 on the spring season, blanked Kelsey Linville, 6-0 and 6-0, to extend her winning streak.
But Davidson won five of the six singles matches and two of the three doubles matches to raise its record to 14-4 on the season, 6-1 in SoCon action. Two of Davidson’s five singles wins went to a third set as Teresa Wang and Virginia Berry both rallied for wins. UNCG’s Erica Zabkar won her opening set, 6-1, before Wang came back to take the next two, 6-3 and 6-1. Arielle VonStrolley won the opening set, 7-6, but Berry came back to win the next two, 6-3 and 6-0.
