BOONE, NC – UNC Greensboro’s Alejandra Guerra won her ninth straight match, dominating Anja Gugger, as UNCG topped Appalachian State, 6-1, in Southern Conference women’s tennis action on Tuesday afternoon.
Guerra, a junior from Tampico, Mexico, topped Gugger, 6-0 and 6-0, to win her ninth straight and raise her spring season record to 10-2. Guerra also earned a shutout win in doubles action, teaming up with Arielle VonStrolley for an 8-0 win over Monica Tomas and Mallory Cook.
Arielle VonStrolley, Britney Cloer, Valerie Behr and Erica Zabkar also earned straight-set wins in UNCG’s dominating effort.
The Spartans (5-7, 2-1) open a three-match homestand when they host Furman on Saturday at 11 am.
