CHARLESTON, SC – UNC Greensboro won four singles matches and grabbed two of the three doubles clashes to pick up its second win of the season with a 5-2 win over Charleston Southern on Wednesday afternoon.
Three of UNCG’s wins during singles action came in straight sets. Alejandra Guerra rolled past Aodhnait Lombard, 6-3 and 6-2, at the first singles slot. Valerie Behr topped Andrea Schutte at No. 3 singles by identical 6-4 scores, while Erica Zabkar steamrolled past Nazli Kutuk, 6-1 and 6-0. In addition, Arielle VonStrolley earned a three set win over Zineb Hilali, 6-3, 6-7, 1-0 with a 10-8 score in the 10-point third-set tiebreaker.
The Spartans (2-5) also won two of the three doubles pro-sets, including an easy 8-0 win by Guerra and VonStrolley over Hilali and Schutte, to complete the win.
UNCG continues its spring break trip through Charleston on Friday when it faces College of Charleston.
