GREENSBORO, NC – UNC Greensboro’s Alejandra Guerra won twice, including a straight set singles win over Christine Bader, but Michigan State won four of the six singles matches and the remaining two doubles matches to come away with a 5-2 win over UNCG in women’s tennis action Saturday afternoon.
Guerra, a junior from Tampico, Mexico, topped Christine Bader at No. 1 singles, 6-1 and 6-2, and teamed up with Arielle VonStrolley for an 8-6 win over Bader and Stephanie Kebler at No. 1 doubles.
UNCG’s other win of the afternoon came when Erica Zabkar topped Anna Milosavljevic at No. 5 singles in a third-set tiebreaker. Zabkar won the opener, 6-1, before Milosavljevic came back to win the second set, 6-3. However, Zabkar won the 10-point tiebreaker, 10-5, to earn the win.
UNCG (0-2) returns to action on February 16 when the Spartans face Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA. Start time is set for 3:30 pm.
