Three Spartans win in weather delayed first day at Elon Women’s Tennis Fall Invitational

ELON, NC – Weather played havoc with the first day of matches at the Elon Women’s Tennis Fall Invitational on Friday afternoon at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

Only nine matches were completed on the day. UNC Greensboro’s Valerie Behr advanced in the Cardinal Flight, while the Spartans’ Emily Wade and Erica Zabkar both won first round matches in the Gold Flight. Behr defeated Rebecca Carr in a third-set tiebreaker, 4-6, 6-0, 1-0, with a 10-8 in the tiebreaker. Wade defeated Southern Conference foe  Adriane Hodges, 6-3 and 6-4 . Zabkar defeated Campbell’s Scarlet Alfonso, 6-1, 3-6, 1-0, with a 10-8 score in the tiebreaker.

Play continues Saturday morning, weather permitting.
