Miles finishes fifth in flight at Landfall in women’s tennis action
WILMINGTON, NC – UNC Greensboro junior Whitney Miles won her singles match to finish fifth in the Navy Flight at the 2006 UNCW/Landfall Women’s Tennis Invitational on Sunday.
Miles, the Atlanta, GA native, defeated North Carolina's Lynzee Mabry in two sets, 6-3 and 6-4, to win the consolation bracket.
Fellow Spartan, Arielle VonStrolley lost to North Carolina's Hanes Harris in a two-set match, 6-3 and 6-4, to finish sixth in the Gold Flight. VonStrolley and Miles teamed up to defeat Brooke Walter and Varinia Soler of East Carolina, 8-6, to finished 2-2 in doubles play for the tournament.
UNCG women’s tennis heads to the UNC Wilimington Invitational starting on Friday, September 15.
