VonStrolley, Zabkar named to All-SoCon first team

CHARLESTON, SC – UNC Greensboro’s Arielle VonStrolley and Erica Zabkar were named to the Southern Conference’s women’s tennis all-conference first team on Thursday.

VonStrolley was named as both a singles and doubles player, while Zabkar was named as a doubles selection. A redshirt freshman from Miramar, FL, VonStrolley has been UNCG’s No. 1 singles player throughout the season. She has compiled a 15-19 mark this season, including a 10-10 record during the spring campaign.

Zabkar, a junior from Atlanta, GA, teamed with VonStrolley to go 12-12 as UNCG’s No. 1 doubles. The duo went 6-3 in conference play this season, helping them to a 10-9 mark in the spring portion of the schedule.

Chattanooga’s Anastasia Zhukova and Furman’s Laura Gioia were named Conference Co-Players of the Year. Elon’s Deanna Bailey was named the conference’s Freshman of the Year. Furman’s Debbie Southern was named the Coach of the Year.

Fifth-seeded UNCG will face fourth-seeded Elon in a quarterfinal match at the Southern Conference Tournament at 10 am Friday.
