GREENSBORO, NC – UNC Greensboro won four of six singles matches to top Georgia Southern, 5-2, in Southern Conference women’s tennis action Sunday afternoon.
The match took nearly seven hours to complete as play was halted midway through because of rain showers.
UNCG (8-9, 4-4) picked up singles wins from Arielle VonStrolley, Erica Zabkar, Whitney Miles and Valerie Behr to even its SoCon mark on the season. VonStrolley and Behr earned straight set wins at Nos. 1 and 5 singles, respectively. Miles rallied after losing the opening set to top Heather Reynolds, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1. Zabkar also lost the opener before rallied to defeat Kristi Kegerreis, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6, including 7-0 in the tiebreaker.
UNCG also won two of the three doubles pro-sets to earn the doubles point.
The Spartans host Davidson in another Southern Conference match-up on Wednesday at 3 pm.
