CULLOWHEE, NC – UNC Greensboro won four singles matches in straight-sets and swept the three doubles pro-sets on its way to a 7-0 shutout of Western Carolina in Southern Conference women’s tennis action Saturday afternoon.
UNCG got straight-set wins in singles action by Arielle VonStrolley, Erica Zabkar, Courtney Akel and Valerie Behr to help raise its record to 7-6 overall and even its conference mark at 2-2 on the season. VonStrolley rolled past Trish Hanson, 6-4 and 6-0, while Zabkar dominated Susanna Sjokvist, 6-2 and 6-0. Akel turned away Mariona Trilla Jane, 6-3 and 6-3, while Valerie Behr handled Holly Stocks, 6-1 and 6-2.
UNCG, which has now played 10 of 13 matches away from home this season, returns home for a non-conference match-up with East Tennessee State on Sunday at 12 noon.
