UNCG gets split on Florida swing, defeats Stetson, 5-2

DELAND, FL– UNC Greensboro took four of six singles matches and two of the three doubles pro-sets as to defeat Stetson, 5-2, on Monday afternoon and gain a split on its Florida road swing.

The Spartans, who lost to Central Florida on Sunday afternoon, got wins from Erica Zabkar, Whitney Miles, Valerie Behr and Jessica Eblen in singles action to raise their dual match record to 4-3 on the season. Zabkar earned her 15th win of the season, defeating Breanna Atkinson in straight sets, 7-6, 6-4. Zabkar, a junior from Atlanta, is now 15-7 this season and 46-32 in her career. She is 6-1 on the spring season.

It was Miles’ and Behl’s wins that put the match away, though. Leading the match 3-2, Behl won a tie-breaker in the second set, 11-9, to earn a straight-set win over Catherine Canady. Miles then put away Katherine Nowicki in three sets, 7-5, 2-6, 6-3.

UNCG returns to action on Sunday when it visits Chattanooga for its Southern Conference opener.
