HIGH POINT, NC – UNC Greensboro got straight-set wins in singles action by Erica Zabkar, Arielle VonStrolley and Valerie Behr, but it wasn’t enough as High Point handed the Spartans their first loss of the season, 4-3, on Wednesday afternoon.
VonStrolley defeated Suzanne Celensu at No. 1 singles, 6-2 and 6-1, while Zabkar followed at No. 2 singles with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Ann-Charlott Talus. Behr also picked up a straight-set win at No. 5 singles, defeating Iris Shabetsberger, 7-6, with a 7-3 score in the tiebreaker, and 6-0.
However, High Point won the other three singles matches and two of the three doubles matches to win its first match of the spring.
UNCG (2-1) returns to action on Saturday when it hits the road to face UNC Asheville at 4 pm.
