UNCG drops three matches at ITA Regional
CHAPEL HILL, NC – UNC Greensboro dropped three first round matches on the opening day of the ITA Southeast Regional women’s tennis tournament.
Whitney Miles and Emily Wade both fell in opening round matches of the qualifying bracket. Miles dropped a straight-set decision to North Carolina’s Hanes Harris, 6-0 and 7-6 (7-5). Wade won a marathon first set, 7-6 (15-13) before dropping the next two sets by indentical 6-2 scores to North Carolina’s Laura Reichert.
In doubles action, the duo of Erica Zabkar and Lisa Suggs lost a first round match to Lindsay Ballard and Anastasia Zhukova in a pro-set, 8-2.
Suggs will open singles action in the main draw at 4 pm on Friday when she takes on ninth-seeded Laura Gazner of South Carolina.
