UNCG to open SoCon Women's Tennis Tourney against College of Charleston

CHARLESTON, SC – UNC Greensboro is the No. 6 seed in this week’s Southern Conference Women’s Tennis Championship, which gets underway Thursday in Charleston, SC.

The Spartans will open play on Friday against third-seeded College of Charleston at 12:30 pm. The match will be played at the City of Charleston’s Farmfield Courts. UNCG (7-15, 3-6 SoCon) lost at College of Charleston earlier this season, 5-2.

Action gets underway on Thursday when eighth-seeded Elon takes on No. 9 Chattanooga at 12 noon at the Earle Tennis Center on the campus of The Citadel. That will be followed by No. 7 Georgia Southern taking on 10th-seeded Western Carolina at 2:30 pm.

The tournament, which is run in conjunction with the SoCon Men’s Tennis Championship, will move to Farmfield on Thursday. Top seed Furman takes on the Elon/Chattanooga winner at 10 am. At the same time, Wofford, the No. 4 seed, will face fifth-seeded Appalachian State. At 12:30, while the UNCG-College of Charleston match is taking place, so too will the match between second-seeded Davidson and the winner of the Georgia Southern/Western Carolina match.

Semifinal matches will be played on Saturday at 1 and 3 pm at the Earle Tennis Center. The championship match is slated for 2 pm on Sunday at the Earle Tennis Center.
