GREENSBORO, NC – Chattanooga won two of the three doubles matches to earn the afternoon’s first point and that wound up being the difference as the Mocs defeated UNC Greensboro, 4-3, in Southern Conference women’s tennis action on Saturday afternoon.
The teams split the six singles matches. The Mocs earned wins by Anastasia Zhukova, Lindsey Ballard and Beata Knizat at Nos. 1, 2 and 6. The Spartans picked up wins from Erica Zabkar, Lourdes Moran and Sophie Rychlik in the Nos. 3, 4 and 5 matches.
All three doubles pro-sets were decided by 8-1 scores, with Chattanooga winning two of them.
Zabkar, a sophomore from Atlanta, GA, had the easiest win of the afternoon, defeating Talita Bragato, 6-0 and 6-1.
UNCG returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts in-state rival UNC Wilmington for a 2 pm match.
