Sandy Davison is in her first season as an assistant coach for the UNCG women's soccer team.

“Sandy has a tremendous coaching resume at the youth level in developing players to play at the highest level,” head coach Steve Nugent said upon Davison's hiring. “She was a great player herself. Sandy has very deep ties in Region III and Region IV, and from a recruiting perspective, that will be incredibly valuable to us. At the same time, she’s a tremendous field coach, can identify talent and will be an asset to us in every facet of running a top-level Division I women’s soccer program.”

Davison came to UNCG from the Sereno Soccer Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., where she was the girls’ divisional director since 2009 for the U-16 through U-18 age groups. While there, Davison coached a pair of teams ranked in the top 25 nationally, with a history of multiple state championships.

For much of the last decade, Davison worked US Soccer Youth and US Club Soccer National Team ID camps, and joined the US Soccer Scouting Network Staff in 2010. Davison was also a longtime US Youth Soccer ODP regional staff coach, a US Soccer U-14 Girls National ID Camp staff coach and an ODP state team coach in multiple state associations.

Davison also worked extensively with club teams in soccer-rich areas like Texas, Georgia, Florida and California. After several years with Challenge Soccer Club in Houston, Texas, Davison was recruited back to the program to assist with developing and growing the Challenge South Soccer Club, an offshoot in South Houston whose membership quintupled in one year under Davison’s guidance.

She also directed the girls’ portions of the newly formed Space City FC in Houston; the Weston Fury Soccer Club in Weston, Fla.; the Pleasanton Rage Soccer Club in Pleasanton, Calif.; and the Davis Youth Soccer Club in Davis, Calif.; and was a division director for the Tophat Soccer Club in Atlanta, Ga.

Throughout her career, Davison has developed and trained players who have gone on to play in the former WUSA and with youth national and regional teams. She has also had great success facilitating the college process for prospective student-athletes.

A licensed physical therapist assistant, Davison holds a United States Soccer Federation “A” Coaching License. She attended Sacramento State University from 1984-85 after spending two years at Pfieffer College in Misenheimer, N.C.

“I am genuinely excited about the opportunity to work with Steve Nugent given his success in the women’s game,” Davison said upon accepting the job. “It will be an exciting challenge to be a part of the continued success of UNCG women’s soccer and to work with Steve and the UNCG administration in pursuing the program’s vision.”
