Barnekow, Lopez, Player named to Hokie Classic All-Tournament Team

BLACKSBURG, Va. - UNC Greensboro women's soccer players Cat Barnekow, Lauren Lopez and Kristin Player were named to the Hilton Garden Hokie Classic All-Tournament Team for their play this weekend, it was announced Monday.

Barnekow, Lopez and Player helped the Spartans go 1-1 at the tournament. UNCG fell to tournament host Virginia Tech on Friday before rebounding to beat Duquesne in overtime on Sunday.

Barnekow and Lopez were part of a defensive unit that limited the Dukes to just one goal in UNCG's 2-1 win Sunday. Player, meanwhile, scored both UNCG goals, tying the game late in regulation before picking up the golden goal just over three minutes into the extra frame. Barnekow assisted on Player's first tally.

The Spartan trio was joined on the all-tournament team by College of Charleston's Hannah Gmerek, Sarah Wiggers and Julie Romanik; Duquesne's Morgan Herbert, Sam Kaiser and Gabbie Morrin; and Virginia Tech's Marika Gray, Kelly Conheeney, Jennifer Harvey and Robin Chidester.

UNCG returns to action on Thursday when it hosts High Point in its final non-conference game of the season. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at UNCG Soccer Stadium.
